When a person who knows this, observes it as the essential of the scripture, there would be (for that person) a great understanding of the essentials of the path. When exerting oneself in this respect, if there is a genuine arising (of the Thought of Enlightenment), giving even one morsel of food to a raven, it is encompassed by that (Thought of Enlightenment). e. succeeding) at all. But if one has undergone the essential, this Thought, it is as if for the time being one does not cut but sharpens the sickle; and when it has become keen, thereupon this one cuts, with the result that with little (effort) one ends by cutting much.
